Join our mission to empower the tent industry to create a safer and more effective workforce.

This certification program provides an opportunity for hands-on learning in Safe Tenting areas such as: Anchoring (staking and ballasting), specific Tent Types (Frame Tents, Pole Tents and Structures), Flooring, Permits and Codes, Site Management and more. Tenting professionals will be able to demonstrate their skills and work toward achieving Professional and Master certification levels in their craft.

We encourage members of the industry to take advantage of these valuable program resources. First, learn the basics by taking our free Foundations of Safe Tenting Cours, available through all three partner Associations.

Become Certified, and gain the skills and knowledge to improve your results and advance your career; Become an Instructor, and share your expertise with others in the industry; or Host a Training, to provide more opportunities for learning and help encourage safe tenting work methods throughout the industry.

Together, we can strengthen our workforce and mitigate risk by laying the safety foundation for every tent installation.

Become an Instructor

The Safe Tenting Professional (STP) program prides itself on the quality of its instructors. All STP Instructors work on a volunteer basis and are not financially compensated, but travel reimbursements may be available. Instructors may be nominated by anyone but are approved or denied by the Safe Tenting Professionals board. Please review the “Instructor Requirements” document before applying.

If you would like to apply or nominate someone else to be an instructor, please complete the  Instructor Form.

Host a Training

We are always looking for hosts of our certification courses! If you are interested, please take a look at the “Host Requirements” document. Keep in mind, we will bring the instructors to you, and you can receive up to two complimentary registrations for your installers to participate in the course. If you have questions based on the host requirements, there are some items that can be brought in or swapped out depending on the course, so if you think you might be a good fit, we look forward to hearing from you.

If you’d like to host training, contact one of the associations below to inquire:
